Skate Daze features a hard wood skating floor dimly lit with mood lighting in which one wouldn't expect beautiful women in fishnet stockings throwing powerful earth shaking hip checks.  The concessions tasted delicious, the beer cold, and the staff quick and friendly.  The venue, only able to hold a few hundred mostly filled seats, resembled more of a prize fight than a roller derby venue.  The tight room brought the action literally right to the loud, screaming, ravenous Sioux Falls fans faces, who made a strong showing to support their favorite girls.

Emotions ran high and put sportswomanship put to the test as the two teams fought bitterly for every inch of ground.  The score, 107-78, didn't quite reflect how evenly the two teams skated.  The hard hitting of Omaha proved too tough for the agile skating of the Roller Dollz jammers.  In addition, unfortunately, the normally rock solid blockers such as Dusty Bibles, Hollicidal Manicac, and Red Thunder were unable to stop the powerful jamming of Omaha.  Penalties also plagued the Dollz.  At time up to four Dollz appeared in the penalty box many times, including the jammer, severely hampering their resolve to win.  Always the enemy in these situations, the referees had few fans cheering their insidious calls.

Short their lead jammer, Applicious, due to a knee injury, the other Dollz jammers really stepped up to the job.  Little Miss Masochist and Queen Elizabitch each showed vast improvement in skating and passing strategy.  Even when knocked down hard, the Sioux Falls jammers rose unbelievably quickly to their feet, hardly losing any ground.  The rookie girls of the Dollz also proved they will be able to contribute.  Julia Wild skated exceptionally well and should develop into an excellent member of the team.  Mrs Big Stuff of the Omaha Roller Girls, formerly an Olympic hopeful speed skater, along with Mikillya showed why their team has remained undefeated.

The post-bout celebration gave both teams and fans a chance to meet face to face, laugh and talk about the excitement of the bout.  Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported from the Dollz owing to their intense physical preparation and training.  Team captain, the Tork, had this to say, "I know we all skated hard and learned some from this bout.  I am sure our fans had a great time as we all did. We had fun if you think about it...we have a few more tactics to learn."  Will the tides turn when The Omaha Roller Girls come to our house to do battle?  Make sure you are there to find out when it happens.
